Getting a hair transplant is a big decision and we’re sure you’ve put a lot of thought into getting one. Before you go ahead and book you hair transplant consultation we’ve got 6 things we think you should know.

#1 We can only work with what you have

A hair transplant is an amazing procedure that can make a huge difference to your hair, and your confidence. Hair transplants are remarkable procedures and the process behind it is almost magical, but we don’t actually use magic to help you and your hair.

We can only work with the hair you have if you’ve got a receding hairline or your hair is thinning at the top of your head we use other areas of the scalp to transplant hair from. In most cases, we take hair from the back and sides of the head and transplant it to thinning areas.

If you come into the clinic for a consultation and you are completely bald unfortunately we will not be able to offer you a hair transplant. We do however offer other treatments such as Advanced Tricho Pigmentation that might help.

#2 Your transplanted hair can be treated like normal hair

A lot of our clients ask us questions around how they should treat their transplanted hair after the procedure. Some people are concerned that if they do not treat the hair right they will damage and lose it.

We’ve had clients ask us if they need to use different products and shampoo on the transplanted area, the good news is, you don’t. Your transplanted hair can be treated the same as your normal hair. Once it’s transplanted and you’ve followed the aftercare instructions we set you’re fine to treat your new hair, like your normal hair.

#3 A hair transplant is permanent

Your hair transplant is a permanent treatment. When it comes to deciding what treatment is right for you always remember this. If you’re looking for a hair restoration solution it is important to remember a hair transplant is a permanent solution as that should pay a big part in your decision making process.

#4 The cost of a hair transplant

The cost of a hair transplant is one of the biggest things to consider when getting a hair transplant. We know from experience it is the most frequently asked questions before booking a consultation.

Hair transplants are expensive treatments but the cost is worth it in the long run. It is important to consider how much money you’ll save by not buying expensive hair products or hairpieces. A hair transplant is a one off cost that will achieve the best possible results for you.

#5 There are two different hair transplant procedures

When it comes to hair restoration there are a variety of different procedures on offer, sometimes it can be hard to pick what procedure is right for you. If you’ve decided on a hair transplant, just remember there are two different types of procedures.

You’ll have a choice between FUE (follicular unit extraction) and FUT (follicular unit transaction). It is important to research both procedures to find out what one will work best for you. The biggest difference is with an FUE transplant is your hair follicles are removed and transplanted individually, FUT transplants remove a strip of hair at the back of the head and then prepare it for the transplant.

FUT can in some cases leave large scars at the back of the head, which can make it noticeable that you’ve had a hair transplant.

#6 A good clinic is very important

Picking the perfect hair transplant clinic can be a tough decision but it is very important. There are a variety of things to consider when picking your hair transplant clinic from looking at past work, the treatments on offer, to their consultation process.
