The only grooming guide you'll ever need

When it comes to male grooming you’ll read and hear a lot of different tips to help you get the perfect grooming routine, but by the time you’ve read through of these different articles and magazines you’ll end up with a grooming routine that will take up half of your day.

Fear not, at the Harley Street Hair Clinic, we’ve got a simple and time effective grooming guide that will make your life much easier on a daily basis. We’re cutting things down into simple sections with a basic option, and something a bit more advanced if you’ve got a little more time on your hands.

Shaving

Facial hair care is an art form, you want to ensure you’ve done the job properly and have not irritated your skin. To achieve a close shave without any irritation, take these simple steps; take a hot shower and wash and exfoliate the face and neck, pat dry, apply moisturiser and wait for it to sink in.

Next up, apply your shaving cream and use a high-quality razor with fresh and sharp blades. Shave in the direction that your facial hair grows – never against it. Once you’ve finished, wash your face clean with hot water, apply after shave and moisturise.

Advanced tips…
If you want something a little easier for yourself and more professional you can visit a local barber for a professional shave with a straight razor. Or, for something more permanent you could research laser hair removal.

Beard

Brush your beard every day and use clippers to keep it even and neat as it grows. When you’re in the shower wash your beard along with your face to get rid of any dirt and dry skin that can accumulate. Using a beard oil will soften the hair and increase its shine as well as keeping the skin moisturised which can lessen irritation.

Advanced tips…
If you’ve noticed a few stray grey hairs you could tidy up your look by getting a beard dye from your local shop and topping it up every other week. For some, growing a bead can be quite difficult and you might actually struggle getting your desired look. At the Harley Street Hair Clinic, we offer FUE beard transplantation that can help you get a fuller looking beard.

Eyebrows

Well-groomed eyebrows can make the world of difference to your overall appearance, invest in a good pair of tweezers and start by plucking the hair in between your eyebrows as well as any hairs that grow away from the natural brow area. This will simply tidy up your appearance without making your brow shape too feminine.

Advanced tips…
If you really want to clean up your brows and get the shape looking neater you can visit your local salon for waxing or threading every few weeks. Your local salon will be experienced in creating a masculine, yet tidy brow.

Skin

Wash your face every morning and evening with an exfoliating facial wash to get rid of any build-up of dirt. Once you’ve washed your face, pat dry and apply a light moisturise in the morning and a more hydrating one of an evening. This simple routine will keep skin clear and hydrated whilst keeping blemishes at bay.

Hair

Going to your barber every couple of weeks is important to keep your hair neat and tidy, once you’ve got to your desired style a trim every couple of weeks will keep it looking fresh. You can experiment with texturizing sprays, clays and waxes to see what styling products work best for you and once you’ve worked out the best one for you – your haircare routine will become very simple.

Advanced tips…
Many people stuffer with hair loss which can sometimes be difficult to disguise – looking into hair restoration treatments could be a great way to restore a youthful appearance to your hair.
